Three Weeks Old

Mila is three weeks old today! She had her two week appointment last Monday and the doc says she's just perfect. According to the grids, she's in 10th percentile for weight and 50th for length. I don't think she'll busting out of the newborn clothes anytime soon, but she's going in the right direction.

Our social calendar was pretty full this week, but we made it through without any problems. Granted, she did her share of sleeping while we were out... even through the drill sounds at the dentist, an evening with lots of chatting women and a bowling alley! Maybe we should rethink the soft sound makers in her room.

Two Weeks Old

Tomorrow officially marks Mila at two weeks old. She has her check up Monday morning and we're really hoping to see that she's gained weight. She's been a healthy eater, so she should be on track!

Today she got to wear the first dress that we bought for her. It was a very special purchase for us because we bought it on the day we found out we were having a girl. I have to say, we couldn't have imagined a prettier little girl to wear it.

Ahh! There's that camera again!

On with week two...

Jens went back to work this week, but Mila and I have been doing alright on our own. I even made it to an appointment on time today... even if she did try to sabotage me by filling her diaper as I was putting her in the car seat!

Mila is eating really well, but she's got a ways to go before she bulks up any. She was swimming in the 0-3 months clothes, but thanks to our friends (the Wilsons), she's finally got clothes that fit! Their daughter (Camden) was a premie, so they had a few tubs of clothes to share with us. They're big Hawkeye fans, so we even had an outfit for her to wear during her first Iowa game. Unfortunately, it ended up being their first loss of the season.

Just an average afternoon, napping in her boppy... babies have it made, don't they?

Bath time!

We had our first bath experience at home on Friday morning and it actually went pretty well. Jens took the lead and got the job done without much drama at all. Mila let out a scream when she was first stripped down and put in the tub, but she calmed down pretty quickly. Once we wrapped her in her towel, she was happy as can be.

Home Sweet Home

We came home from the hospital on Tuesday have been adjusting to our new life at home. Day one was pretty quiet and Jens took advantage of nap time with Mila.

Tweetie (the cat) has been dealing really well with the new addition and noises. He's been careful to check her out, but doesn't seem to mind her being around. At one point, he was also napping with Jens & Mila on the couch!

We had our first pediatric appointment today and the doc gave her an A+ in all categories, including cuteness. She's been right on track from the get go, so we couldn't be happier.

Mila's first day

Mila got her first bath today... and she wasn't too happy about it! Once she was clean and dried, she was happy again and was ready for a day of visitors.

She's been eating, sleeping and filling diapers like a champ. And with the help of the nurses, Jens and I were able to get some good sleep last night. They took great care of her in the nursery and brought her in to nurse when she got hungry.

Everything seems to be on track, so we'll be checking out of the hospital today. We're excited to bring her home and get into a routine of our own.

She's here!

Mila Jolee Blessington entered the world at 8:11pm on November 1, 2009. She is 6lbs 6 oz and is 19" long. She's doing well at all of her checks and we couldn't be happier to finally have her in our arms.
